Two Birds, One Cone was designed by Gregg while the two of us enjoyed a day at Meckley’s Fruit Farm Holiday Market (OMG, those incredible donuts!!!). We were very fresh in love and learning about the many things we have in common. Nature, hiking, paddle boarding, pottery, birds, and in particular, the Red-breasted Nuthatch. Gregg sketched this out in between sales as we devoured baked goods. Soon after, he made a few tweaks to his original design and soon set to work carving a linoleum block. As a team, we ran the prints in his home studio in Tecumseh and painted them with watercolor once they dried. We have one hanging in our home and it reminds me that we can rely on each other in times of abundance and scarcity. We just have to face each other and listen.
